I immediately teared up when I saw my little boy on the mat in a pretzel position with another boy. It's so hard to see them intentionaly doing that to themselves. Micah won, and I felt better to have him in my arms. The rest of the matches were not so bad....on me. Micah was fine the whole time. He won 2 and lost one....this loss was hard for him. He is a boy that ALL sports come easily, and to have a loss that he can not blame on anyone but himself, well it was hard on him. I told him to hold his head high, and use his loss as a learning tool, but I would not allow him to sulk in what I saw as a victory in itself. He was fine after that.
I am so proud of him, he is fearless, and loves to try new things....even those that are new and hard for him to learn. I have learned so much in watching my son in sports. He gets knocked down, both physicaly and mentaly, and he gets up every time even more determined from the last time. If only I could do this more often in my life. Ahhh to be a child again.
Well here is the video of his second match, he is wrestling our neighbor, his best friend. Ethan is about 10 lbs heavier than Micah, and as you will see Micah holds him own against him. They wrestle like this almost every day in our basement, but this is the first time they had a ref there....well other than us. The reason he is wrestling Ethan is because his real aponent got tired of being man handled by Micah and he left crying....Jason was so proud. :) Ok ....well here it is!
Micah is the one in the dark blue shorts.....
